Welcome to the YEG Tri Club — Free to Join, Built for Community
Made in Edmonton, Made for everyone
Get early access to Ironman & 70.3 race registration, connect with local athletes, and wear your city pride with YEG Tri gear.
Why We Started YEG Tri Club
When Ironman Canada returned to Penticton, the excitement in our community came roaring back. Long-time athletes returned to the sport, new athletes lined up for their first big challenge — and many discovered that triathlon registration has changed.
-----------
Ironman now releases race spots in tiered waves. Recognized clubs get access before general registration opens. That’s why we created the YEG Tri Club: a simple, free way for Edmonton-area athletes to secure their best chance at early registration.
Joining is easy — add your name to the list and you’ll instantly receive a discount code for a signature piece of our YEG Tri Collection.
Club Gear & Team Spirit
The YEG Tri Collection is available to everyone, but club members get preferred pricing. When we race here at home — or travel across the country to compete — YEG Tri gear makes it easy to spot fellow athletes, share high-fives, and represent Edmonton’s thriving triathlon spirit.
-----------
Wear it for race day. Wear it for training. Wear it to show the world that Edmonton is a powerhouse triathlon community.
Training in Edmonton: A Triathlete’s Playground
We want the club to be more than a tool for early entry — we want it to help bring athletes together, in spirit, if not in person.
Edmonton has one of the most underrated training environments in Canada:
- Run Training: Endless, scenic trails in our river valley and beyond.
- Open Water Swim: The North Saskatchewan River — a free, legitimate OWS venue right in the city.
- Bike & Run Hills: Plenty of challenging spots for hill reps.
- Long Rides: Quiet range roads just minutes outside the city.
------
Whether you’re prepping for your first sprint or chasing another Ironman finish, this city has what you need.
------
If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.
Group Training
Group Bike Training Sessions
Everyone is welcome to ride with us throughout the winter. Sessions run via Zoom so you can join from anywhere — and we’ll continue to add more group training opportunities as the club grows.
The easiest way to stay informed is to join the YEG Tri Club email list.
-----------
Summer Open Water Swimming
There are a few local lakes including a few man-made lakes that are common training venues for local triathletes but my absolute favourite open water swim ('OWS') venue is the river, the awesome North Saskatechewan River. It runs through the middle of city providing miles of OWS as well a acres of wooded trails and parks for amazing running year round. For safe OWS in the river, join the Facebook group "Edmonton River Swimming" to connect with a swim buddy. Safety first!
